Memórias do Cárcere

A fascinating and vivid portrait of Camilo Castelo Branco, based on one of the most memorable episodes of his life: when the writer and Ana Plácido were imprisoned in the Cadeia da Relação in Porto following the notorious adultery trial that shook 19th-century Portuguese society. A collection of extraordinary stories of people with bitter lives — forgers, parricides, infanticides, and even a king — which Camilo heard there and recounted, with his inexhaustible creative genius, in the book Memórias do Cárcere, on which the film is based. — Medeia Filmes

The session on 25 October at 15:30 will be presented by the director Sérgio Graciano, along with Albano Jerónimo and Maria João Bastos.
