Carolina Bianchi Y Cara de Cavalo

The Brotherhood is the second instalment in the Cadela Força trilogy. Carolina Bianchi, in collaboration with the Cara de Cavalo theatre company, delves into the complexity of pacts of masculinity, the possible origins of brotherhood and its codes — many of which are responsible for perpetuating sexual violence as part of its vocabulary. The project does not seek to simplify the subject and also acknowledges the fascination that this brotherhood can evoke, particularly when associated with the history of art. The text thus explores the constant tension between repulsion and attraction in the face of male power dynamics. Drawing on theatrical devices, Bianchi constructs possible avenues for reflection, establishing profound connections between representation and real trauma, and between power structures in art and radical poetics. At the same time, it explores the origins of misogyny and sexuality in crisis. The structure of the performance ultimately reveals itself to be a trap: it undermines Bianchi’s authorship and transforms her into a ghostly figure, condemned to suffer the consequences of observing this Brotherhood from so close. — Carolina Bianchi
